"San Die Shui", the grand feast of the Naxi ethnic people in Lijiang area, is made up of 18 dishes that are served in six large bowls, six small bowls and six plates. It is the grandest etiquette of the Naxi people to treat their distinguished guests.
The feast is served in three courses:
The first: mainly desserts such as rice cakes, preserved fruit, prunes, and fresh fruits;
The second: mainly cold dishes such as pork liver slices, agar jelly, ham and dried tofu sheet;
And the third: mainly deli dishes such as steamed pork, but these dishes vary according to the season.
